The Be Unbranded Workday
Low-pressure content creation for founders and entrepreneurs who need usable content and personal branding support so they can show up online as themselves and hit post!
What Actually Happens at a BU Workday?
BU Workdays are guided content creation days, so you are not showing up and being told to “just create content” with zero direction.
We’ll start by learning the monthly content concept, then I’ll walk you through a prepared shot list so you know what we’re creating, why it matters, and how you can actually use it.
For July, we’re building a b-roll photo bank for static posts and carousels, so you’ll partner up with another attendee to capture photos and simple clips in an aesthetic, professional space, with the option to bring an extra outfit if you want variety.
And because everyone will be creating at the same time, it feels a lot less awkward than trying to figure it out alone in a random coffee shop corner.
We’ll also have a business visibility mastermind to help you get unstuck, clarify what needs to be said, and connect it back to content you can actually post.
“The BU Workday was super helpful. Watching other people create b-roll in real time made it feel way more doable. I saw people using a tripod, moving around the space, and getting great content, and it made me realize, ‘I could totally do that.’ I had just never really thought about it or felt comfortable doing it before. Seeing it happen in a low-pressure environment helped me understand how simple it can actually be.”
- Chris Cannon, Cannonball Clay
Spots are Limited to 10 per Workday

July's BU Workday Agenda
This month’s Workday is photo-first. We’ll focus on capturing simple, usable photos for single-image posts, carousels, LinkedIn, stories, emails, websites, and future content.
This is not a full brand shoot. It is a low-lift content day designed to help you stop starting from zero every time you need to hit post.
There will be room for optional short video clips later in the day, but the main focus is building your photo bank. Please plan to arrive a few minutes early for parking and getting settled. We’ll start promptly at 10:00 AM.
10:00-10:15 AM | Arrival and Settle In
Grab coffee, get comfortable, meet the room, and review the shot list for the day.
10:15-10:25 AM | Welcome and Word From Our Sponsor
HB will welcome everyone, walk through the day, and introduce Thrive as the host sponsor.
10:25-10:55 AM | Content Style and Tools Show-and-Tell
We’ll start by talking through everyone’s content style, comfort level, and setup.
This is where you can share what you brought, what you normally use, what feels awkward, and what you want to learn from other people in the room.
We’ll also look at simple setups, phone angles, tripods, lighting, framing, and how different people would approach capturing content at Thrive.
The goal is to make content creation feel less confusing before we start.
10:55-11:10 AM | The BU Lens and Monthly Content Focus
We’ll ground the day in the Be Unbranded approach.
The goal is not to create fake, overly polished content. The goal is to create usable photos that make showing up online easier and help people understand the human behind what you’re building.
This month, we’re focusing on photos because static content still matters, and having photos ready makes it easier to post without needing to film a reel every time.
11:10-11:25 AM | What to Capture and How to Use It
We’ll walk through the shot list and talk about how to think about photos based on how you’ll actually use them.
This is where we connect the photo bank to real content: posts, carousels, LinkedIn, stories, emails, website updates, and future offers.
11:25-11:35 AM | How to Be a Good Content Partner
Before we start capturing, we’ll talk through how to help someone else get content they’ll actually want to use.
We’ll cover simple direction, comfort levels, lighting, framing, and how to communicate when something needs to be adjusted or redone.
11:35 AM-12:00 PM | Partner Up and Plan
You’ll choose your partner or small group and talk through your photo priorities.
This is where you’ll decide what you want to capture first, where you want to capture it, what support you need, and whether you want to leave room for optional short video clips later.
By the end of this block, each person should know how to support their partner during the first capture block.
12:00-12:10 PM | Transition Time
Grab your phone, tripod, notes, water, and anything else you need before the first content block.
12:10-1:10 PM | Content Capture Block 1: Photo Bank
This block is focused on capturing your core photo bank.
12:10-12:35 PM | Person A Photo Capture
- 5 minutes: choose the spot, check lighting, frame the first shot
- 10 minutes: capture core photo bank content
- 5 minutes: capture approachable/personality photos
- 5 minutes: capture static post and carousel-friendly options
12:35-12:40 PM | Swap and Reset
Switch roles, adjust location if needed, and reset.
12:40-1:05 PM | Person B Photo Capture
- 5 minutes: choose the spot, check lighting, frame the first shot
- 10 minutes: capture core photo bank content
- 5 minutes: capture approachable/personality photos
- 5 minutes: capture static post and carousel-friendly options
1:05-1:10 PM | Buffer
Grab anything quick that was missed, redo anything awkward, or start uploading.
1:10-1:55 PM | Lunch and Downtime
Lunch is downtime.
You can chat, scroll, answer emails, take a quiet break, or start uploading content from the first block.
1:55-2:05 PM | Transition Back
Refill your drink, settle back in, and pull up anything you captured during the first content block.
2:05-3:05 PM | Business Visibility Mastermind
This is the strategy portion of the day.
Each person will bring one business, visibility, or content challenge they’re working through. The group will help talk it out, ask questions, spot what may be unclear, and brainstorm ways to make the next step easier.
The focus is:
What feels sticky in your business right now, and what content would help people understand it better?
We’ll use the end of this conversation to connect each person’s challenge back to the content we’re creating today so the second capture block is more intentional.
The goal is not to solve your entire business in one hour. The goal is to leave with more clarity, stronger post ideas, and a better sense of what content you still need to capture.
3:05-3:15 PM | Transition Time
Reconnect with your partner, adjust your shot list, choose your next spot, and decide what you want to capture in the second block.
3:15-4:15 PM | Content Capture Block 2: Fill Gaps and Flex Content
This block is still photo-first, but it gives you room to fill gaps, capture content tied to a specific post idea, or grab optional short video clips if you already have the photos you need.
3:15-3:40 PM | Person A Fill Gaps and Flex Content
- 5 minutes: review what’s missing
- 10 minutes: capture priority photo gaps
- 5 minutes: capture content tied to a specific post idea
- 5 minutes: optional short video clips or bonus content
3:40-3:45 PM | Swap and Reset
Switch roles, adjust location if needed, and reset.
3:45-4:10 PM | Person B Fill Gaps and Flex Content
- 5 minutes: review what’s missing
- 10 minutes: capture priority photo gaps
- 5 minutes: capture content tied to a specific post idea
- 5 minutes: optional short video clips or bonus content
4:10-4:15 PM | Buffer
Redo anything clunky, grab one final shot, or upload content before heading back to the room.
4:15-4:25 PM | Transition Back
Come back to the room, grab your laptop or phone, and pull up the content you want to work with.
4:25-4:45 PM | Content Use Plan and Open Forum
We’ll map out how you can actually use what you captured.
By the end of this block, the goal is to choose a few usable photos or clips, identify at least one post idea, outline a caption or hook, and decide what to post first.
This is also an open time to ask questions or get feedback.
4:45-5:00 PM | Upload, Wins, and Close
Before leaving, everyone will upload and organize their content in the shared folder.
We’ll close by sharing what you created, what felt easier than expected, and what you’re leaving with.
What Past Attendees Said
"It was great to be around a group of people who are all looking to achieve similar goals and have a growth mindset. Beyond the content, being part of the community helps entrepreneurship feel less lonely."

Workday FAQs
Do I need to be a BU Club member to come?
Nope. BU Workdays are open to the public.
BU Club members just get the best rate because they’re already doing the monthly BU Basics work inside the Club.
You can join the BU Club at any point. Once your 14-day trial is complete and your first Club cycle has been paid, you’ll be eligible for the BU Club member rate for your next Workday ticket.
Do I need to know what content I want before I come?
No. You do not need to show up with a perfect content plan.
I’ll teach the monthly content concept, walk you through the shot list, and help you think through what would actually be useful for your brand and goals.
What should I bring?
Bring your phone, charger, laptop, notebook, and a tripod if you have one.
For July, you can also bring an extra outfit if you want variety in your photos, but it is absolutely not required.
You do not need fancy equipment, lighting, a mic, or a tiny influencer setup.
Will someone take photos or videos of me?
Yes, but it will be collaborative and low-pressure.
You’ll partner up with another attendee so you can help each other capture photos and simple clips. I and my teammate will also be there to guide, give ideas, and help make the process feel less awkward.
What if I feel awkward being photographed or creating content?
Perfect. Come anyway.
Most people feel awkward at first, which is exactly why we do this together. Everyone will be creating at the same time, so you are not alone in a random corner trying to pretend this is normal.
Do I have to post during the Workday?
No. You do not have to post live during the Workday.
The goal is to leave with usable content, post ideas, and a clearer plan so posting feels easier after the Workday.
Is lunch included?
Yes, lunch is included.
You’ll also have downtime during lunch to eat, chat, take a break, or start uploading what you captured.
Do I need to use Instagram for this to be helpful?
Nope.
The content you capture can be used for Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, email, your website, stories, reels, carousels, or wherever you show up online.
The point is not one platform. The point is having content that helps people understand the human behind what you’re building.
Will I have to film talking head videos?
No. This is not a “sit in front of the camera and perform” kind of day.
You’ll have space to capture photos, b-roll, simple visuals, and optional short video clips if that makes sense for you.
How many spots are available?
Spots are limited to 10 people per Workday so everyone has time, space, and support.
What if I’m not a founder?
This Workday is designed for founders, entrepreneurs, nonprofit leaders, creatives, and big-idea people who need to show up online as the human behind what they’re building.
If that sounds like you, you’re probably in the right place.
